WILHELMA
Zoological & Botanical Garden
|
|
In 1842, König Wilhelms I allowed a bath house to be built
on
the edge of Rosenstein
Park. It resembled the Alhambra and the fairytale 1001 Nights
palace. Gardens and buildings from the Moorish style surrounded
by lakes and streams - a real sight to behold.
During the Second World War, however, the old, historical Wilhelma
was destroyed. Even today, despite the destruction,
the Wilhelma is worth seeing - The zoological and botanical
garden has something for everyone. Especially in the summer
months when the ponds are full of water lilies the magic of
the olden days comes to life.
